About Heart Trust

Heart Trust is a “brain trust” composed of highly skilled medical professionals specializing in pediatric cardiac care. Skills include the following disciplines: cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, anesthesia, perfusion, critical care, respiratory therapy, infectious disease and, both operating room and pediatric cardiac intensive care nursing, and bio-medical engineering. Our organization leads small medical teams to developing countries desperately in need of training in the above disciplines. We work hand-in-hand with local professionals to help them advance their medical skills in the field of cardiac care.

All team members, including our organization's administration, volunteer their time.  All our services are provided pro bono; no remuneration is ever accepted for our work. We help children who would neither have the financial means nor opportunity to receive this lifesaving care.

We procure and donate medical equipment to developing countries and provide the necessary local training. Heart Trust’s hope is to effect an improvement in the local healthcare situation through both skill transfer and equipment donation.

In keeping with our focus on training, Heart Trust provides scholarships to either children with cardiac issues or their siblings. In these countries, by supporting one child’s education, the entire family’s quality of life may be substantially improved.

Heart Trust’s hope is to effect an improvement in local healthcare through both skill transfer and equipment donation.

Our Mission

We sincerely wish we could save every single child suffering from congenital heart defects.  Medical teams from many organizations all over the world do the best they can for these children in need.  However, the greatest gift we can offer these children is to improve the local care extended once we leave a country. While we can never be present long enough to help all these struggling, gravely ill children, we do our best to try to effect a lasting change. This is the mission of Heart Trust. In the words of Lao Tzu, “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.”  Heart Trust wants to do just that—to teach the local professionals how to “use the fishing poles” and extend many lives to come.

Our Mission

Our Vision

By working hand-in-hand with local medical professionals, we seek to improve the legacy of care provided to impoverished children with congenital heart defects. Our hope is that Heart Trust's contribution will positively impact the level of healthcare and improve the medical outcomes and lives of many children to come, long after our team has departed.
