The Heart Trust team was composed of cardiology, surgery, anesthesia, perfusion, ICU physician, nursing, respiratory therapy and biomedical engineering. Our team worked hand-in-hand with the surgical and the electrophysiology team. Four surgeries and eleven electrophysiology procedures were performed. Our respiratory therapist was constantly teaching the local ICU team and taught them how to set up and perform bubble CPAP, a therapy which will help shorten recovery time. In addition to the challenging procedures performed, our primary objective was actually to assess the pediatric cardiac program in detail. Our team made many significant observations. These have already resulted in several improvements which will positively impact patient outcomes. We look forward to our next mission and hope to do a full assessment of the EP program at that time.
